Fountaine Pajot has an excellent history of building high quality sailing catamarans and commercial catamarans. Fountaine Pajot has just introduced a new power catamaran design-The Maryland 37 Catamaran Trawler. Power catamaran yachts offer the advantages of stability, safety, comfort, performance, economy, range, spaciousness, and shallow draft. They have a tremendous advantage over conventional monohull yachts and are quickly becoming the motor yachts of choice in major areas of the world. In the very competitive commercial market, power catamarans have already proven themselves to be the vessel of choice for water taxis, large ferries, commercial carriers, and dive boats, just to name a few. The Maryland 37 Catamaran Trawler vessel was recently tested in La Rochelle, France. Fountaine Pajot was very pleased with the initial results. The Following findings were reported: 1. With twin 130 hp Volvos and full tanks of water and fuel, the vessel's cruising speed was 15 knots " in whatever condition she was operated in." The top speed was found to be 19.5 knots. 2. With twin Yanmar 88 hp engines, the cruising speed is expected to be approx.. 12 knots with a top speed of 14-15 knots. 3. With the standard 75hp engines, the trawler will cruise at 9 knots and will have a range of 1000 miles Specifications
The Maryland 37 has a spacious interior which features an indoor helm station, and a large salon with galley. Each hull contains a roomy double stateroom and a head with shower. Air conditioning is an option;however, the vessel is well ventilated. At anchor while pointed into the breeze the air flows nicely through the hulls and is exhausted through the side ports. The main salon has 4 opening windows and a sliding door which opens to the cockpit. The exterior provides plenty of space for moving around the vessel and outdoor living. The tender is lifted out of the way to davits, which are between the hulls. This allows the flybridge and aft cockpit free of clutter. In addition to having a very livable interior, the Maryland 37 provides a comfortable ride!! No longer will you find the rolling motion which is characteristic of some trawlers.
