Check out the winner of Photo Contest #3 which just concluded (June/July).
We're now accepting pictures for Photo Contest #4. Go there now and see what's up. You can send in your photo for Contest #4 through the end of August (voting continues until September 30th).
We've added a really cool new section for your amusement. You can now send a FREE Pet Postcard, complete with your choice of picture, music and an original message, to anyone you care for (though that's not a requirement)!
(Note: there's a teeny glitch in the program. Be sure you don't use quote marks in your postcard message or it will be sent blank!)
Every month we pose a different fun pet question. This month we're trying something a little different. Instead of a question, we changing the format. Tell us a true story about your pet, past or present. Share with us. Or, if you'd like, post a question that you'd like others to help you answer. But no medical questions here please! While you're thinking, see if anyone else has a story to share. And while you're there, just start typing!
We have new later hours (for your convenience, natch)! We are open on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday still until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Doctors' hours are still by appointment, but drop by anytime during those hours for product and gift selections, as well as to drop off or pick up your pet (please plan with us ahead of time), or to get information.
We have a new veterinarian on staff: Dr. Nancy Mettee joins Dr. Cox, Dr. Mann and Dr. Tomes. Take a look at their mug shots!
So what's up with Febreze, the Proctor&Gamble product that is used to remove fabric odor? Is it dangerous? Many of you have been e-mailing us with the Internet rumor that this product has been killing pets. Well here's the news and the truth according to the manufacturer and several well-respected web sites.
Time to take a break! Answer the Quizlet and check out your answer. If it hasn't popped up, hit the Refresh, or Reload button on the top bar. It's brand new August 1st so see how your answer stacks up and find out something about yourself in the process!
Some new drugs are now in our pharmacy that can help your dog. The first one, Clomicalm, will treat separation anxiety in dogs when given along with behavior modification. Separation anxiety is often associated with extreme destructiveness when the dog is left alone, as well as other signs such as soiling and barking.
The other new drug we have is called Anipryl. It is given to older dogs to treat "senility" (no, it may not be just the natural decline associated with aging). Call for a consultation.
(For more info about these drugs, as well as other pet care articles, click on the Newsletter tab above.)
We're looking out for the health of your cat. At Harmony Animal Hospital we are using the new Merial Purevax feline rabies vaccine. This is the first and only rabies vaccine that removes the ingredient that is suspected of causing fibrosarcomas (a type of cancer) at the injection site in some cats. We thought you'd like to know.
Do you know what the best kept secret in town is? It's our Pet Marketplace. Lots of new and cool pet gifts and supplies are coming in everyday. One of our brand new items is beautiful ceramic bowls, mugs, trivels, and teapot with a wonderful, handpainted cat design. There are also cool windchimes, great sterling silver dog and cat keychains and some amusing desk accessories (to name just a few). Check them out.
