![]() The Everglades Agricultural Area Environmental Protection District (the "District") was created pursuant to Chapter 89-423, Florida Statutes on July 5, 1989, for the purpose of ensuring environmental protection by means of conducting scientific research on environmental matters related to air, water and land management practices and implementing the financing, construction and operation of works and facilities. The district is supported by assessments on agricultural land within its boundaries. The District includes approximately 454,500 taxable acres located within Palm Beach County, 72,000 taxable acres located within Hendry County, and 12,000 taxable acres located within Glades County, for a total of 538,500 taxable acres.
