The Everglades Agricultural Area Environmental Protection District ensures environmental protection by means of conducting scientific research on environmental matters related to air, water and land management practices and implementing the financing, construction and operation of works and facilities.

Since its inception in 1989 the District has raised over $27,000,000 to be used for scientific research on environmental matters affecting the Everglades.
