Do you really need Category 5 cable or gigabit cable? Consider these factors first.  

• How long will you be in your facility? If less then 3 years it may not be of value. 
• At what speed do you plan to run your network? If you have 10 megabyte cards in your PC's you won't be able to utilize anything faster than Category 3 cable. 
• When do you plan to upgrade your network? If you are not planning on upgrading your PC's for two years, technology may have passed Category 5 cable even before you were able to use it.
