MONEY Magazine's January 1996 issue ranked Martin County School District among the "Top 100 School Districts in the Nation." Florida Atlantic University is one of the nine state universities in Florida and serves a seven county area stretching from Indian River County in the north, Broward County in the south and west to Okeechobee County. FAU offers a variety of degree programs at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

The University has campuses in Boca Raton, Palm Beach Gardens, Port St. Lucie, Davie, Ft. Lauderdale and Dania. FAU's nine colleges are the College of Architecture, Urban and Public Affairs, Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters, College of Business, College of Education, Honors College, College of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing, the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science and the Honors College. Current enrollment at Florida Atlantic University is over 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students.

Florida Atlantic University's Northern Campuses (Palm Beach Gardens and Port St. Lucie) offer undergraduate programs in Arts and Letters, Business, Education, Criminal Justice, Nursing, Science and Social Work. Graduate programs are offered in Business, Education, Nursing and Public Administration.

In Fall of 1999, FAU will move its Northern palm Beach County operation to a permanent location in Jupiter's Abacoa project. The John D. MacArthur Campus will be the home of the branch campus for undergraduate and graduate students and the new liberal arts Honors College. The Honors College, for students with high scholastic performance and abilities, is the first 4-year residential public honors institution to be built from the ground up.

Martin County Adult Education provides a tremendous resource of continuing community and vocational education to county residents. Through life long learning programs, they provide basic business and clerical skills, vocational and specialized trade training, academic enrichment programs, GED and ESL programs, and career assistance programs. Barry University has satellite campuses in North Palm Beach County and St. Lucie West serving Martin County. Barry offers an accelerated degree program specifically designed for working adults. Five Bachelor Degrees are available plus a Masters Degree in Human Resource Development and Administration. (561) 871-8000

Barry is developing and implementing customized training programs for employers throughout the state of Florida.

Palm Beach Atlantic College is a comprehensive liberal arts college offering Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees. PBA provides a quality education with a distinctive emphasis on traditional values for students of all faiths. In addition to traditional Bachelor’s degree programs, PBA also offers an evening program leading to a Bachelor of Science in organizational management, which is taught in off-campus sites, including Hobe Sound as well as the main campus. Master’s Degree programs in business administration, human resource development, counseling psychology and elementary education and a variety of computer training courses all in non-traditional formats appropriate for adults.
